I would like to remind the membership one more time that the second meeting in March will be on Tuesday, March 23. Due to prior commitments of the meeting hall we need to change our date. Again, the second meeting in March will be March 23, 2004 and that is on a Tuesday. The annual Greater Detroit Soaring and Hiking Society's annual Sno-Fli was held today. The temperature was cool and it was very windy, about 20-25 mph all day. For Weak Signal members participated in the contest and they represented the club very well. Dave Leach placed 2 nd in RES and was 9 th in Unlimited. Dick Peebles placed 7, Jim Skolmowski placed 4 th and Dave Whitaker placed 3 rd (Did I beat Skolmo?) in unlimited. Although the conditions were challenging, there was some very good flying. The landings were the most difficult (ask me sometime). The winch motors have been reconditioned and are back in use at the field. The golf carts are still being serviced. There have been two occasions where I have gone to the field and found the lights on in the storage room. Come on guys, please check to see that the field and shelter house are properly secured when you leave. The lock on the door to the storage room is a little hard to operate lately. Try pushing the door shut harder to try to make it easier to turn your key. Don't break your key off in the door. Be gentle. With the freezing and thawing of spring it is normal for the driveway to become muddy and wet. Please drive slowly and please don't spin your tires as you drive into the field. Please remember that there are 100 members in this club. Please take care of our facilities. If you run your gas-powered planes inside, please clean the tables off when you are done. Maybe we can discuss at the next meeting if we should allow planes to be started inside. Think about it. At the last meeting I announced that the American Legion has asked us to enter the meeting hall by the East door or the South door. The East door faces Lewis Ave. It is probably best to now park in the lot on the South side of the building. There is more parking there anyway. So please enter using these doors from now on. Brian Harris is taking sign-ups for the Monday Night Soaring League. A sign up sheet was passed around at the last meeting, if you were not present and want to sign up, give Brian Harris a call or e-mail him. This was a great success last year. Don't forget the SAM 40 Old Timer Tech Talk on March 21, 2004 the club field. This event will be hosted by Gene Navoy. Several new members have offered to be Contest Directors for next year. Jim is still looking for a few more volunteers to fill out the schedule. If you wish to CD a contest, let Jim know ASAP. I have been informed that there is a possibility that our firewood may be disappearing a little quicker than we are using it. Please keep alert to the possibility of the wood walking away. (You know what I mean). Also I am not sure that it is really necessary to have a roaring fire going when the temperature is 50 degrees outside. On that particular day no one was hardly even going inside. That's all for now. Dave WhitakerFrequency Distribution Chart
