Presidents Message The contest season is drawing near. Our first contest of the season was supposed to be May 2 nd. However it was rained out. The first FUN FLY has been rescheduled for May 15 on a Saturday. Lonnie Prince will be the CD for our first Fun Fly. The rules have been posted in last month’s newsletter. On Saturday, April 24, 2004, John Root held a spring clean-up work party at the LaSalle Field. Now the facilities are in great shape ready for a great flying season. I would like to thank Rick Lederman, Chuck Hutton , Dennis Ornellis, Stacy Lloyd, Bill Alford, and John Root for doing all of the work. John told me that Stacy Lloyd started at 6:30 and Dennis arrived at 7:30. Are these guys dedicated or what? Bill Alford is a new guy and it’s great to see him come out to help clean. Thanks a lot guys. I would like to remind the membership of some safety situations that have come to mind at the club field. Please remember that spectators are not permitted out on the flight line. Spectators should remain at the shelter house. Also after launching your aircraft please move back from the runway and toward the center of the field away from the pit areas. Lastly, remember that we do have a flight boundary on the south edge of the field. No powered aircraft is permitted to cross the creek line at any time for any reason. When flying a pattern sequence, you will have to modify your pattern so that the creek boundary is not violated. On Sunday May 16, 2004, Bob Kane is hosting an Introduction to Precision Aerobatics and Judging Clinic at the club field. The field will not be closed. You may still fly. All members are welcome to attend this seminar. Gary Weber has been in the hospital fighting off an infection. And Ralph Kraft broke an ankle down in Florida. John Wolff had some back surgery recently, and I hope these guys are recovering well. Give them a call if you think of it. I am sure they would not mind hearing from you. I am sure John will be ready in time for the Sailplane League. This is a reminder that the Sailplane League will kick-off on May 17. This first night of the league will be an organizational night and there will be plenty of flying. If you signed up for the sailplane league make sure you are there on May 17 at 6:00 p.m. Come earlier if you can. Let’s have a great and safe flying season That’s all for now Dave WhitakerFrequency Distribution Chart |
