Presidents Message Hello Members, The contest season has started. At the time of this writing we have completed our Heli fun fly event as well as our first fun fly. Elsewhere in this publication are the results. We tried a Pylon race but the wind got the best of us. On June 5th we begin Sailplane league and are looking forward to another great season. Brian Reash has resigned from membership secretary. Brian did a great job and we are sorry to see him go. I would like to thank Brian for his hard work. Dave Whitaker will take over the duties of the Membership Secretary. Stacy Lloyd has volunteered to take over the raffle. Many thanks to Dave and Stacy for taking those jobs. By now you should have received information in the mail pertaining to our new "test" to determine the best layout for our field. Hopefully you have attended recent meetings where there has been much discussion on the subject. The membership gave the field committee the authority to put a new plan into affect to determine the best possible setup for our field. If the first plan doesn't work then they go to plan B, C or D. The concern is to make sure we come up with a layout that will allow all disciplines of flying to work in harmony. Make sure you understand the rules as laid out in the mailing. The new rules start on June 5th. Any infraction of these rules will be considered the same as breaking any of the current field rules and penalties will apply. The committee will provide a log-in sheet and comment forms for flyers. It is important for flyers to log-in when they fly and record their comments. Comments, suggestion and complaints will hold more weight if the member has actually flown in one of the new configurations and is speaking from experience. Once the membership decides on a workable plan the committee can begin to implement it. This process may take awhile. It will be worth it to run the tests before we spend a pile of money only to find out we could have done something better. We are going to feel a little pain during this process because of some loss of conveniences. Contests, parking, club house access, flight lines and rules will be altered during this process. Please bear with us and be ready to put your constructive advice down on the comment forms. Let's get those old planes dusted off and the new ones broken in. Come on out and try the new field layout. That's the way I see it, Jim Skolmowski
