The Sailplane contest scheduled for August 29, 2004 has been rained out and rescheduled for September 12, 2004. The events will be the same as published in the last newsletter. 10 minute maximum Triathlon scoring and first flights will begin at 10:30. Elections are approaching. Election night is the second meeting in September. This will be September 23, 2004. It is not too late to add you name to the ballot if you are interested in running for an officer in the Weak Signal’s R/C Club. Call Ron Webb if you wish to add your name to the ballot. Everything is set for the Banquet this year. Information is included in this newsletter. If you have any questions contact Brian Harris or Jim Skolmowski. Although the Monday night sailplane competition has come to and end, that does not mean an end to the Sailplane flying on Monday night. Keep coming out on Monday night for some pick-up competition or just for additional practice or some help from some of the better pilots. It is a good time to learn more and get more practice. I would like to remind everyone of some safety aspects at the field. Please try not to fly alone. Many things can happen. Recently, Ed Rutkowski was practice flying his Old Timer with a Fox 35 for the Foxacoy event. Ed inadvertently got his hand too close to the propeller. Luckily, John Root happened to be at the field also. Ed needed some help with getting to the urgent care facility. Ed received 15 stitches. If Ed had been by himself, he could have had more difficulties. Volunteer fireman, Scott Harter, reminded everyone at the last meeting, that it might be better if 911 were called. He pointed out that their response to anywhere in the township is under four minutes. Also if you transport someone in an emergency, you can run the risk of liability if anything should happen on the way. So be extremely careful at the field. Remember, we do have maps posted to the closest urgent care facility on Lewis Ave, just south of Dean Road. Members are also reminded that if they have not flown in a contest this season, they need to have a qualifying flight at the club field in front of 2 regular or life members before the last contest of the season or they will be placed on the Associate list. The last contest is October 10, 2004. Remember, on September 23, 2004, the meetings will move back to the American Legion Post on Lewis Ave. And elections will take place during that meeting. That’s all for now. Dave WhitakerFrequency Distribution Chart |
