Presidents Message The picnic that was held on August 21, 2005 was a huge success. I would like to send a special thanks to Bill Cunningham the chairman and his helpers Lee Hertzsch, Paul Fillmore and Scott Harter. There were many others that helped and Bill has thanked them and I thank them also. At the September 8, 2005 meeting the proposed by-law change concerning the elimination of electric powered aircraft being allowed to fly on non-holiday Mondays came before the membership. The result is that the by-law passed. It was a closely debated proposal. I would like to thank everyone that presented their view points. They were all done in an orderly manner and everyone politely waited their turns. There may be different view points, disagreements, and ideas. This is needed to seek what is best for the club in the long run. Thanks to all the members for listening to all ideas. Now that this by-law was passed by the membership it is everyone’s responsibility to support the club and the by-laws. If anyone feels there are still changes that need to be made, they are welcomed to propose changes. That’s the democratic way. As a club we all need to try to pull on the same rope and do the best for the club. I see no vested purpose in reporting your view points to an open internet forum, when they can not help formulate policy especially when the article is not signed. I put no merit in anonymous articles. The next meeting is for election of officers for 2006. That meeting will still take place at the Lasalle Field Club House. There is a conflict with the American Legion Post that evening. It is not too late to add you name to the ballots. Let Nomination Chairman Bill Cunningham, or Ron Webb or Rick Lederman know right away if you can help the club by being an officer. You can also be nominated from the floor the evening of the vote. Those individuals running for Office in 2006 are:
The annual Weak Signal’s Banquet is scheduled for November 5, 2005 at the Raddison down town. More information will be coming real soon. Paul Filmore has been appointed the Club’s Safety Officer The October 13, 2005 meeting will then move back to the American Legion Post for the winter meetings. Don’t forget. I would like to thank Brian Harris and Jim Skolmowski for the hard work and record keeping for the Monday Night Sailplane League. Because of these Monday nights, there are many more pilots becoming very, very good. On some Monday nights there were 36 flyers present. This program has been great and every year there is more and more interest. And it is a good time. On September 10, 2005, Brian Harris had a little Sailplaner’s pot luck lunch at the field. I would have liked to have seen a few more participants, but the members present had a great time. Chef Harris throws a mean hamburger and we had great time flying also. Thanks Brian. The last Sailplane contest of the season is September 18, 2005. Bill Cunningham is running this one and he plans on having Breakfast at the field first and then fly all the rounds and then end with a Lunch. Sounds great to me. I will be there. Breakfast will run from 8:30 to 9:30. Lunch will be after flying around 1:00. That’s all for now Dave WhitakerFrequency Distribution Chart |
